What topics will you study in KS4 History?
- Paper 1: Thematic study and historic environment Migrants in Britain, c800-present and Notting Hill, c1948-c1970
- Paper 2: Period study and British depth study Early Elizabethan England, 1558–88 Superpower relations and the Cold War, 1941–91
- Paper 3: Modern depth study Weimar and Nazi Germany, 1918-39

We encourage students to read “around” the subject by reading varied articles on historical issues, eras and ideas.
How will you be assessed at the end of the course?
Students are assessed by 100% examination:
- Paper 1: Migrants in Britain, c800-present and Notting Hill, c1948-c1970 (30%)
- Paper 2: Early Elizabethan England, 1558–88 and Superpower relations and the Cold War, 1941–91 (40%)
- Paper 3: Weimar and Nazi Germany, 1918-39 (30%)
How can you help your child excel in this subject?
Visit places of historical interest including museums, art galleries, exhibitions. Encourage your child to read/watch the news regularly to keep abreast of contemporary issues which reinforce historical concepts. Discuss what your child is learning in lessons and ask them to explain their thoughts/ideas on the topic and check homework assignments on the school’s DPR Encourage your child to conduct independent research into the topic being studied in lessons.
