How will you be assessed during the course?
NEA (60% of the course): A portfolio that in total shows explicit coverage of the four assessment objectives. It must include a sustained project evidencing the journey from initial engagement to the realisation of intentions and a selection of further work undertaken during the student’s course of study.
ESA (40% of the course) Students respond to their chosen starting point from an externally set assignment paper relating to their subject title, evidencing coverage of all four assessment objectives.
25% of marks for AO1 (Development of ideas through investigations)
25% of marks for AO2 (Refining work by exploring ideas)
25% of marks for AO3 (Recording ideas)
25% of marks for AO4 (Presenting a personal and meaningful response)
How can you help your child excel in this subject?
Parents can support by reminding the child to work independently outside of the class to further develop ideas for their exam pieces. Independent work can take the form of extra research about the work of artists, drawing, photography, gallery visits, and experimentation with a range of media all linked to your chosen idea.
